Winter Wellness: Superfoods, supplements + herbal remedies

If you’re anything like me during cold + flu season, you do everything you can to keep the family feeling healthy. Nutritious food, immune supporting essential oils, as much rest + as little stress as possible (this can definitely tougher than it sounds!), and high quality supplements. Unfortunately no matter how hard we’re working to stay healthy, there are going to be times that we end of feeling less than stellar. And that’s ok!

Our bodies are intelligent and capable, and if we’re able to offer a little extra support, oftentimes we’ll bounce back in no time! The symptoms we experience are our body’s way of talking to us, but also a method for healing. So rather than suppressing these symptoms, a better option is to recognize and support them to the best of our abilities.

In our home we lean into natural solutions as a first line of defence. In most cases, with a little faith + patience, they manage to get the job done. Now let’s talk about the vitamins, minerals, superfoods + herbal remedies we’re loving right now.

IMMUNITY POWDER

We use a variety of superfood powders from this Organifi. The immunity packs are a definite no brainer for the winter months. Packed with vitamin C, D3 and Zinc and yummy too!

CYMBIOTIKA

Cymbiotika is an amazing company with so many great high quality supplements. I love a few of their products but for this time of year in particular the Vitamin D is where it’s at.

HERBAL TEA

I won’t get deep into herbal tea quality in this small text box. Just know that if you want to avoid microplastic (from tea bags) + pesticide exposure (from herbs) this is a great brand to go with. So many options for different ailments. We love the Throat Coat + Echinacea plus for the winter months.

ELDERBERRY SYRUP

There are so many different options when it comes to elderberry syrup, you can even make your own! An incredibly powerful remedy packed with vitamin c + antioxidants it helps soothe sore throat, ease coughing and congestion, and fight cold and flu.

Vitamin C

Vitamin c supports the immune system along with so many incredible side benefits (think collagen production, exercise recovery, circulation etc). This option is great because the liposomal delivery allows for better absorption within the body.

On Guard Chewable + Softgels

Two of my favourite doTERRA products that include the On Guard protective blend. The chewables can be used daily, and we love the softgels for when we need a little extra support.

PROBIOTICS

Having healthy gut bacteria can strongly impact overall health. Probiotics assist microbiome function which helps to maintain a positive balance of beneficial bacteria. A healthy gut strongly impacts overall health! Of course there are lots to choose from, but we have had great success using these ones from doTERRA.
