Love + Oils

Are you ready for some love? I've put together some fun ideas to help you celebrate this Valentine's Day!

Do it Yourself!

Let’s start with some fun DIYs! Whether you’re looking to spoil a loved one, a friend, a coworker, or maybe even an entire class of little people, I’ve got a few fun ideas for you. I know it might require a little more time + effort than a box of cards from the dollar store but I promise it will be a whole lot more rewarding in the end :) And if you ask me, any gift that cuts down on the amount of sugar typically associated with this type of holiday is a huge win!

Heart Shaped Bath Bombs

Made with natural ingredients AND no toxic synthetic fragrances, these are so fun to make + even more fun to use!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup baking soda

  • 1/2 c + 1 tbsp citric acid

  • 1/2 c epsom salts

  • 1/4 c fine pink Himalayan sea salt

  • 3/4 c + 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 2.5 tbsp witch hazel

  • 15 drops doTERRA Lavender essential oil (or oil of choice)

  • Mini spray bottle with water

  • Large silicone mould (6 shapes)

DIRECTIONS

  • Combine first 5 ingredients in large bowl

  • Combine witch hazel + essential oils

  • Add witch hazel to bowl + mix until combined (it will fizz)

  • Fill silicone moulds half way and press firmly. Spray tiny bit of water and press again

  • Portion the remaining mixture evenly into moulds and repeat process

*make sure to pack mixture it as much as possible
*don’t over spritz or bombs will lose their fizz

  • Let sit for 24hrs. Pop out of moulds

  • Make your own card or find a printable one online

  • Package as desired

Aromatherapy Crayons

This craft is perfect because kids can get involved with helping AND it uses up all those old crayons that you’ve been meaning to clean out. You can even customize the scent depending on the mood you’re going for!

INGREDIENTS

  • Crayons (about 40 or so – old or new)

  • Silicon molds - any shape you want

  • Essential Oil (we used Wild Orange)

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat your oven to 240°F

  • Pull out a baking tray and line with parchment paper to catch any overflow

  • Remove all paper from crayons by soaking in warm water for about 15min (add a few drops of lemon to make this job even easier!)

  • Break the crayons into pieces – Bigger chunks work better

  • Place into silicon molds, filling until slightly over the top of the mold

  • Add 1-2 drops of essential oil in each shape

  • Place in the oven for about 10-15min

  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 1hr

  • Pop shapes out of the mold carefully

Keep it simple!

Not into DIYs? Try a hand written or homemade card from the heart. Add a little extra touch by scenting it with your favourite essential oil. Simply put a drop of oil in your hands and then rub over the card.

You could also make a roller bottle. Create a personal fragrance or customize to the needs of whoever you’re gifting.

Love is in the air!

If you’ve been oiling with me for a while now, you know that oils are capable of evoking certain feelings + responses just from being inhaled. I love creating diffuser blends that give you that warm, fuzzy feeling when you experience them, especially this time of year. Any floral, spicy, citrus combos are sure to bi a hit. Some of my February favourites are: Passion, Whisper, Rose, and Bergamot!

5 Love Languages

Get ready to take your relationship with your partner, your children, your coworkers, and/or yourself to the next level!

The concept is quite simple - different people with different personalities express love in different ways. When we understand each other's differences, we are able to communicate better.

The Love Languages are broken down into 5 ways of expressing + receiving love. Every person has at least one language that they prefer above the other. They are:

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION
QUALITY TIME
ACTS OF SERVICE
GIFTS
PHYSICAL TOUCH

Take the 5 Love Languages Quiz today and discover how you prefer to give and receive love!

Once you've identified your languages we’ve obviously got oils to add a little extra support. Apply, inhale, and/or diffuse the recommended oils to help anchor your experiences!

For lovers

You better believe we’re going there! If you haven’t yet leaned into your oils for a little libido support, there’s no time like the present. Give some of these tips a try and you can thank me later ;)

Treat Yourself

Of course we always love finding yummy new ways to incorporate oils in the kitchen! Here are a few new recipes to try:

Snacking Chocolates

Lavender Cupcakes

Raspberry Citrus Truffles

Strawberry Coconut Creams

I hope you enjoyed this little love fest! As always, sending lots of love your way,

Colleen
